The Felling Heritage Group's major project for 2014 was to plan and execute a commemoration of The Outbreak of WWI as it impacted on the residents of The Felling. See programme
The Group sought to identify all those organisations/schools who wished to participate and to secure some funding. We wanted a celebrity and everyone favoured John Grundy because of his history background and his 15 years teaching in The Felling. He was very happy to accommodate

At the request of the Chairman an inspection was made of the Heworth Burn/Garden of Remembrance area which featured in the Commemoration. A litter pick was subsequently carried out by 3 group members and the Council were asked to carry out work beyond the capabilities of our volunteers. To get a better picture, view this video. All the work was indeed carried out by the Council
